Lord Howe Island

A short flight from Port Macquarie, Newcastle or Sydney you will find the world heritage-listed Lord Howe Island - a place of unique rainforests, coral reefs, beaches and volcanic peaks.

If your family has travelled the world in search of the perfect relaxing island, Lord Howe has to rank up there with the best of them.

The main attractions include:
Ned's Beach: This pristine beach is surrounded by lush palm forests. It's an ideal spot for the children to handfeed the colourful tropical fish.

Old Settlement Beach: This beach at the northern end of the lagoon is particularly tranquil. Spend relaxing sun-drenched days searching for large Green Turtles or hiking through the nearby forests.

Pristine Beaches: The island is fringed with wonderful beaches, caves and lagoons. Blinky Beach and Lagoon Beach are two of the best-known but there are many more - and as visitor numbers on Lord Howe are limited you'll have most of them to yourselves.

Deep sea fishing: Lord Howe's deep sea fishing is legendary. Dad will appreciate the range of half and full day charters are available. There is also good beach and rock fishing on the island. If your going to introduce your children to the pleasures of fishing, this is the place to get them catching fish.

Scuba Diving/Snorkelling: The whole family can experience the coral magic. Take in the world's southern-most coral reef with crystal clear water, over 500 species of fish and 90 coral species. Whales and dolphins appear offshore in season. Equipment and instruction are available.

Golf And Bowls: Lorde Howe Island boasts a wonderful scenic nine-hole golf course and a bowling green for keen bowlers.
