Enjoy pristine surf beaches, unspoilt rainforest and wild rivers, colourful resorts where you can stroll from the sand to a stylish beachfront cafe and dozens of delightful towns, villages, and rural hamlets. There is an abundance of fetes, fairs and festivals.

Mount Warning National Park. Climb to the summit before dawn to watch the sun rise over the lush Tweed Valley. Formed by an ancient volcano, the National Park offers superb bushwalking. Camping facilities at Wollumbin Wildlife Refuge Caravan Park, also at Mebbin Forest Camp, in Mebbin State Forest.

Tropical Fruit World. This award winning eco-tourism theme park set on 65 hectares boasts over 500 different varieties of tropical and rare fruit.

Griffith Gallery and Treetops Environment Centre. See beautiful furniture made from logs saved from around Australia plus a superb gallery representing Australia's artisans. Visitors can watch the timber preparation and then observe craftsmen turning the salvaged wood into saleable furniture. Tourists are also taught about timber and reforestation programs.

Cape Byron Lighthouse. The Lighthouse at Cape Byron is the most easterly point in mainland Australia, and one of the best places for seasonal whale-watching. See spectacular sea cliffs, rare and beautiful coastal vegetation, secluded beaches and a high quality walking system with views to the Queensland border.

Stroll through the Gurrigai Aboriginal Arts And Crafts Gallery, at Coroki, featuring aboriginal paintings and artifacts from as far away as Western Australia, Central Australia and the northern territory, and of course, from the local Bundjalung People.

Macadamia Magic Processing and Tourist Facility, Lismore.
See drying, cracking, sorting and packaging of this famous north coast nut through a viewing window. Next door is a pleasant place to relax with a coffee or a cool drink, light snack or meal.

Thursday Plantation - The Education Centre, Ballina.
Come and learn the secrets of the tea tree oil production. Sample products, tour the nursery or take a rainforest walk. Tea room providing morning and afternoon teas and lunches.

Boat Harbour Nature Reserve is a 17ha remnant of the Big Scrub, situated 6km north of Lismore on the Bangalow Road. It is home to a large colony of flying foxes and features a walking track, interpretation display and picnic facilities.

Victoria Park features the remnants of a gigantic fig tree which was seen by Captain Cook as he sailed up the east coast of Australia. The tree was struck by lightening in the early 80s but today people can walk around its base and marvel at its size.

Mums & dads who grew up in the 70s will love the Nimbin Museum.
This is the real spirit of Aquarius, and definitely not your average museum. Eight phases in Nimbin's history are represented. It is located on Cullen Street, the central street in Nimbin.
