The skiing or hiking holiday is part of every family's dream.
Learning to ski for the first time or hiking through Australia's high alps surrounded by wildflowers are two family experiences not to be missed.

Ski or Walk Kosciuszko National Park. The ski resorts go into full swing from June to early October with fast-paced action for experienced skiers and gentler slopes and classes for the novice at Thredbo, Guthega and Mount Selwyn. You might also want to try Charlottes Pass, Perisher, Smiggins Hole or Blue Cow, collectively known as Perisher Blue. Skilift access is available for all four connected resorts. If the hustle and bustle of the downhill slopes are not your scene, pack up your day pack, grab an instructor and try cross-country skiing. This is a different, gentler and more scenic experience for the whole family.

In summer, Kosciuszko National Park is perfect for bush walking, mountain bike riding, trout fishing and horse riding. Take one of the special mountain bike trails or walk on "the roof of Australia" and see Australia's tallest mountain peak, Mt Kosciuszko which can be reached by chairlift.

Lake Jindabyne/Lake Eucumbene. If you've never tried trout fishing Lake Jindabyne and Lake Eucumbene are the perfect places to get started. Who knows, you might just catch enough for a family feast. Both are also great for sailing and the wilderness near Lake Eucumbene, perfect for bushwalking and mountain bike riding.

Yarrangobilly Caves. A network of amazing underground caves in the northern reaches of Kosciuszko National Park, complete with a natural thermal pool.

Snowy River Winery, Berridale. Located on the banks of the Snowy River, this winery is in one of Australia's highest agricultural locations. Some 6000 grape vines have been established. Don't forget top check out the tasting rooms, a unique building with huge granite boulders forming part of the walls.
